The minimum viable starting place to learn what scales, what sticks, and what needs to change is internal; badges inside IBM are a logical starting point.

But to be the ones we've been waiting for, a next practical step is to partner with external design certification and training organizations so that as we invent and create the future, we also help to create enterprise-class patterns that touch the world at large. Internal badges today, but then rigorous enterprise-class certifications and programs to both expand the pool and provide an entry point for those roles that don't yet exist.

To be truly innovative and provide pervasive excellence, it has to be bigger than us; but it can start with us.
